Or so they hope.

Ubisoft has so far had zero shame about milking the Assassin's Creed franchise, but can you blame them? Assassin's Creed 1, 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations have all been incredible, gamers love them, and they're still selling, so why quit?

When we asked Assassin's Creed 3 Creative Director Alex Hutchinson at E3 what was in store for the future of the series, he replied that he was legally unable to answer our question. We understand. But apparently Ubisoft North America's Executive Director Laurent Detoc has a little more freedom in what he can and can't say.

When Gamasutra asked Detoc about reaching Assassin's Creed 8, 9 and 10, he replied, "I hope we will."

"I also hope we'll be able to branch out from within the franchise," he added. "It's very simple to me: There's no such thing as not being able to annualize a franchise. If it's good, people will come."

Do you agree, or could Assassin's Creed eventually overstay its welcome? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
