In a potentially significant change to one of its marquis features, Twitter announced today that its rolling out a new algorithm for determining Trending Topics. Now, the site will populate the list with terms that are popular among people a given user follows as well as in their given location.
Twitter says the new "tailored" model will become the default setting once it hits users, so if you want see topics that are trending worldwide or in another location, you'll have to make the switch.
