If you were looking forward to seeing Johnny Depp in a big-budget remake of the 1934 film The Thin Man, you're out of luck: According to Deadline, it looks like Warner Bros. may be shelving the project for now, citing budget issues, and Depp's desire to take breaks between films. Director Rob Marshall will focus on Into the Woods for his next project, and The Thin Man after. As for the budget, apparently it's somewhere in the neighborhood of over $100 million - something that concerns Warner Bros., since Depp's last film Dark Shadows tanked hard in the box office.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is denying that any of this is an issue for the film, and that the project simply wasn't greenlit. Who you gonna believe?
