Honestly, who didn't enjoy X-Men: First Class? It had it all: action, crazy mutant abilities, Nazi hunters, and plenty of Michael Fassbender. And thankfully, the movie's sequel is picking up momentum with production already underway. Now Ain't it Cool has revealed a very interesting little tidbit about the movie that should get comic book fans everywhere salivating uncontrollably.

Apparently, 20th Century Fox has recently registered the title Days of Future Past with the MPAA Title Registration Bureau. That might not mean much to the casual fan, but let us tell you that there is plenty to be excited about here. Simply put, Days of Future Past is one of the most memorable X-Men storylines ever put to print.

Written by Chris Claremont, and taking place in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142, the story dealt with an alternate future timeline where mutant-hunting Sentinels ruled the roost. In the story, the X-Men, and any other mutant for that fact, were forced into internment camps or killed. It's a bleak tale that showed the deaths of countless X-Men along the way; most notably Wolverine. In order to prevent this future from ever taking place, the X-Men of the present day had to stop Mystique and the Brotherhood of Mutants from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly.

There would have to either be a lot of new characters introduced or a lot of changes made to the original story in order to replicate Claremont's tale. We don't even know if Wolverine and Kitty Pryde would be included in the movie, even though they were the stars of the comic. But after what director Matthew Vaughn gave us in First Class, we're looking forward to whatever he comes up with.
