We can imagine that Fox is probably kicking themselves about now. This morning, Disney announced that Joss Whedon's The Avengers is now the third-highest grossing movie domestically, and the second-highest grossing movie globally.
This is, of course, the same guy whose shows Firefly and Dollhouse were both offed by Fox before their time, despite being sort of brilliant. He now has the third-highest grossing movie ever on his IMDb page.
So yeah, if we were keeping score, we'd say this round goes to Whedon.
