There are many summer vacation movies that try to preserve summer's joys like a time capsule but Wet Hot American Summer instead chooses to corrupt them, which is likely why it can brag about a cult following, while Dirty Dancing collects dust in everyone's house but your grandma's.
Among the many pastimes perverted by David Wain and this stellar cast of comedians: the portrayal of the bittersweet last day of camp as hormonal hysteria, camp counselors who are disgustingly negligent rather than doting, and a cafeteria lady substituted for a war vet with a penchant for humping the fridge.
Even summer's sweet kisses are ruined by Andy (Rudd), who tells his camp girlfriend: "You taste like a burger. I don't like you anymore." Personally, we find hot dog breath ultra-inviting, but we guess everyone has their breaking points.
