Remember the euphoria that washed over you when the final bell rung on the last day of school? We barely can, which is why watching a hodgepodge bunch of high school kids engaging in very apropo 1970's activities, namely abusing a variety of substances, trying to procure beer illegally, and having raucous keg parties, makes us vicariously joyful and painfully jealous in equal measure.

But summer vacation is not all fun and games. There are also mean-spirited hijinks dealt to the freshman: a paddling that makes Kevin Bacon's beating in Animal House seem gentle, two-time senior O'Bannion (Affleck) getting doused in paint for his role in the hazing, and a brawl or two to round out the first day of vacation perfectly. On second thought, high school doesn't really leave much to be missed, does it?
