Director: Leon Ford
Stars: Ryan Kwanten, Maeve Darmody, Toby Schmitz, Patrick Brammall, Heather Mitchell, Marshall Napier
With the recent influx of superhero movies, it’s a shame that the Australian-made Griff The Invisible didn’t find a larger audience when it hit limited US screens last summer. Nevertheless, writer-director Leon Ford’s quirky dramedy cleverly flips the suddenly in vogue homemade-superhero-with-no-powers conceit (Defendor, Kick-Ass, Super) into a sneaky little piece of unreliable psychosis.
At the center of Ford’s delightful and disarming character study is True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten, a fine actor who deserves to be known as more than Jason “Shirts Off” Stackhouse. Give Griff The Invisible a chance and you’ll see what we mean.
