Once again, June 2 marks the 10th anniversary of The Wire’s premiere, and we’d like to think that in the decade since the show’s inception, drug dealers would have learned to keep their business off of cell phones. According to police in Santa Maria, Calif., a drug dealer allegedly and erroneously sent a text to a cop in a haphazard attempt to sell meth.
Police set up a meeting with 39-year-old Reymundo Carlos Escobedo, and promptly arrested him and seized roughly two grams of methamphetamine. Escobedo’s suspected supplier, 37-year-old John Martin Silvera, showed as well and was busted with seven grams of meth. Way to sabotage your team.
Both men are being held on $30,000 bail and charges including criminal conspiracy.
