Sony has no "Definitive Plans" for the Future of the "Resistance" Franchise

With Insomniac out of the picture, Sony may be letting the series fade away.

As you may know, Resistance series creator Insomniac Games is no longer attached to the series: The developer has moved on to work on multi-platform games like their upcoming shooter Overstrike, leaving Sony with the rights to the franchise.

Since the break, Sony has published one Resistance game, the Vita spinoff Resistance: Burning Skies, which was released last month. As of right now, there aren't any Resistance-themed projects on the books and, according to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe producer Daniel Brooke, there aren't plans to start working on one any time soon.

"The Resistance franchise has been exciting to work on, but as for the future we have no definitive plans," Brooke told OPM UK.

With the next generation of consoles on the horizon, the statement essentially closes the book on the Resistance franchise for the next few years. That's not to say it'll never come back, but for all we know, we'll be calling that a game a "reboot" by then.
