If Toyota's violin-playing robot made you fear for the future of mankind, you should probably stop reading right now. The folks over at Engadget peeped a series of patent applications submitted by Samsung for a robot that directly mimics the way a human walks and is able to calculate how to walk certain paths by chopping up the trek into a series of human-like motions. Not shook? How about this: According to Endgadget, one patent "has rotating joints coordinate to simulate the chest heaves of human breathing." WTF? Why does a robot need to simulate human breathing? On the bright side, maybe we can use them as decoys if the zombie apocalypse ever happens.
