What would a comic book crossover be without a few tie-in issues? Usually, these issues add nothing to the story, and just cause headaches for fans trying to complete their collections. Thankfully, the massive Avengers vs. X-Men event has included plenty of tie-ins that are actually worth your time. One such title is Wolverine & the X-Men, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Nick Bradshaw.

Filling in the blanks left over by the main series, this title details what happens to Wolverine's school of mutants during the cataclysmic super showdown. Now, courtesy of Marvel, we have some preview art from the upcoming Wolverine & the X-Men #13, which goes on sale July 11. So check out the art and a synopsis for the issue below.

Marvel is pleased to present your first look at Wolverine & the X-Men #13! They’ve helped fight the Phoenix before, and this July – the Imperial Guard brings the might of the Shi’Ar army to Earth to take on the Phoenix Five! With his son caught in the crossfire, Gladiator must take matters into his own hands to save him. The blockbuster creative team of writer Jason Aaron and artist Nick Bradshaw bring you high-stakes action AND the secret history of Warbird in Wolverine & the X-Men #13, coming to comic shops everywhere, the Marvel Comics app and the Marvel Digital Comics Shop this July.
