With The Hunger Games: Catching Fire set to begin filming in a few months, Lionsgate is looking to speed through the casting process in order to get the entire production in place for a November 22, 2013 release date. So far, all of the principal actors from the last movie, and new director Francis Lawrence, are ready to go. But there are still a few roles that need to be cast in order to faithfully adapt Suzanne Collins' second Hunger Games book.
According to Deadline, one such role is that of Plutarch Heavensbee. And in an inspired bit of potential casting, the site is reporting that the studio has offered the role to Philip Seymour Hoffman. Much like the first installment, it appears as if Lionsgate is really trying to get as many great actors and actresses for this movie's supporting cast as possible.
Of course, nothing is confirmed yet, and Hoffman might not even accept the role. But if he does, it would certainly be a good sign for a movie that has had some production drama up until this point.
