We reported over the weekend that Source, the engine that powered all over Valve's games (Portal, Left 4 Dead, Half-Life 2, etc.) since 2004 is being used to create a feature-length film called Deep. Now we've learned that director Shane Acker previously directed the Tim Burton-produced 9, and we've got a new trailer to show you as well.

Brown Bag Films is animating the movie using Source to cut costs, but that has the added bonus of creating production sets that become "playable levels". Whether they'll actually be released to the public in game-form is another question entirely, but the concept sure is unique.

Deep is about humanity's struggles to survive in submarines at the bottom of the ocean after World War III rocks the Earth's surface apocalypse-style.

What would you think about a movie/game hybrid developed on Source? Would you want to play and/or watch it? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
