Alcohol and karaoke typically make for innocent fun, but one such event exploded into a massive brawl at the New Red Rock Café in Gaithersburg, Md., on Sunday morning. The bar was hosting a "Rapper Karaoke Night," and a fight between two women spiraled into a 100 person free-for-all that eventually spilled outside.
Five men suffered stab wounds and one suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. A woman suffered lacerations. Another man was hit with a blunt object, and several other people refused treatment for minor injuries. According to security guards, people were using salt shakers as weapons.
Red Rock Café has temporarily shut downin the wake of the fight and police have no leads. This is just another random act of fuckery that the ignorant will try to blame on hip-hop. In light of recent events, a quick spin of Drake’s“Karaoke” is necessary.
