George Zimmerman’s bond was revoked today by a judge who has ordered him to surrender within 48 hours. Zimmerman, who was charged with second degree murder for killing Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, had been living in hiding since last month.
The move was prompted by prosecutors filing a notion today to revoke his bond on the grounds that Zimmerman deceived the court about his finances and about having a second passport, which he obtained two weeks after the shooting.
According to prosecutor Bernie De La Rionda, “The court was led to believe that [the Zimmerman’s] didn’t have a single penny.” It turns out Zimmerman had $135,000 in his bank account a day prior to the bail hearing where he claimed to be destitute.
