Indiana Grandmom Blew $100,000 From Grandson's College Fund While Gambling

All the cookies in the world can't fix this.

73-year-old Edna Sue Pate has been charged with stealing $97,000 from her grandson's college fund and gambling it away. Charges were filed in Indiana, but she was found in Louisiana and may never return to her home state to face the charges because state officials were ordered to extradite her, but only if she was found in a surrounding state.

Authorities say that between 2004 and 2007, Pate withdrew nearly $100,000 from a trust fund opened in 2003 for her grandson, Christian Patrick Kenneth Smith. Smith was the lone beneficiary, but Pate was a trustee but did not have the right to use funds for anything other than Smith's education. Clearly, she didn't care.

Pate was well known throughout Indiana casinos, as she blew $93,000 during this time. How do you explain that to your family?
