Though Girls is marketed as a show about girls made by girls for girls, according to Nielsan data from network HBO released to Vulture, surprisingly, girls aren't the biggest audience for the show - Caucasian men over 50 are.

According to the stats: Women make up 44% of the audience, while men make up 56%, and the median age of a Girls fan is 43. Something to note, however, is that this data doesn't take into account viewings over HBOGO or illegal downloads, only DVR and premiere viewings, so it's possible the numbers are slightly skewed.

So, Girls viewers - note: If you're not one, you probably should be - do these numbers surprise you?
