A peek into Facebook’s Javascript by independent developer Tom Waddington revealed ongoing efforts by the social network to add a “Want” button, allowing users to articulate desired products in the same manner as liking posts. Pinterest is the obvious comparison and the button could be Facebook’s attempt to capitalize on its rival’s success. Though, perhaps more importantly, Facebook could use it to learn exactly what its users want and share that information with advertisers for better targeted ads.
