Microsoft has teased that unlocking Xbox 360 Achievements, a mandatory feature for any game on the system, could soon earn you real-life Microsoft Points to spend in the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The official Twitter account of the Xbox Live Rewards program, which offers Microsoft Points for a variety of tasks, broadcast: "Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!"

Hopefully "rewards" does indeed mean Microsoft Points, and not new hats for your Xbox 360 Avatar.

Would you care more about achievements if you could use the rewards to buy more games? Would this be a smart move for Microsoft? Tell us what you think in the comments or on Twitter.
