According to Deadline, DreamWorks Studios has purchased the film rights to the popular video game racing series, Need for Speed, from EA. George and John Gatnis (Real Steel) developed the story for the movie, with George Gatnis writing the full screenplay. The site is reporting that Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is also attached to direct at this time.

The movie is being put into production for a 2014 release date, but other than that, no details are known at this time. Although, we wouldn't be surprised if the movie shared a striking resemblance to the reinvigorated Fast and Furious franchise. We'll have more details on the movie as they become available.
