"Bourne Legacy" Producer Wants Fifth Installment To Unite Jeremy Renner And Matt Damon

Could we see the real deal go up against his replacement?

None

With The Bourne Legacy ready to hit theaters in just over a month, fans of the franchise have to get used to the fact that Matt Damon won’t be anywhere in sight. Instead, this movie stars Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross, a secret agent from the Operation Outcome program.

When asked about the character in the latest issue of Empire, Renner said, "He's coming from a completely different background to Jason [Bourne]. He knows exactly who he is; he signed up to this...He wants to be part of a team. I can tell you he was in the military then he joined the programme. He's a person who wants to be part of something... to have a sense of purpose. But then it's taken away."

Sounds pretty good, right? But there will always be some fans that long for Matt Damon's return, and, fortunately, the producers are trying their hardest to make that a reality. In the same article, producer Frank Marshall revealed, "You see there are several different [programs] in the movie with different skill sets. All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up."

Obviously nothing is set in stone, but if Legacy performs well, perhaps Damon could be coaxed to return for one more outing as Jason Bourne. Fingers crossed, people.
