Twitter is coming to an inbox near you, and not just to give an update on your follower count and retweets. The social network/communication platform recently rolled out newsletter-style personalized email blasts that will update users on popular stories and tweets from the people and organizations they follow.
The emails, which Twitter will send out weekly, are designed to help users catch up on noteworthy developments they may have missed while away from their timeline. It's a sort of "in case you missed it" digest.
The concept is very similar to that of the now-defunt startup Summify, which aggregated links to stories that were shared by people you follow. Twitter acquired Summify early this year, and the new newsletter system is presumably the first fruit of that acquisition.
