It's not often that a film with such great actors and a terrific director is given an NC-17 rating. With this much talent, usually studios will push for the material to be toned down to PG-13, or at least an R rating, to make sure that its target audience will be allowed to see it, but that's not the case with director William Friedkn's (The Exorcist)Killer Joe

Starring Emile Hirsch, Thomas Haden Church, Juno Temple, Gina Gerson, and Matthew McConaughey, this movie promises to push the boundaries of what the MPAA allows because of the sheer brutality that it exhibits. The real trick here, though, is that this trailer shows absolutely none of it. Instead it sets up a tone, a feeling, and an atmosphere that will leave you uneasy, but should ultimately pique your interest.

The movie deals with a young man (Emile Hirsch) who finds himself in debt and is forced to hatch a scheme to have his mother killed so he can collect on her life insurance policy. From there, he hires a police officer that moonlights as a hitman, nicknamed Killer Joe, played by McConaughey, to do the deed. Even though this is only a trailer, McConaughey's performance just oozes with snake-like creepiness in these clips.

We can't wait to see all of this come together when Killer Joe gets released on July 27.
