Kingdom Hearts series creator Tetsuya Nomura is hoping to give fans the news they've been wait for, plans for a new entry in the Kingdom Hearts series.

A Japanese strategy guide for Kingdom Hearts 3D, "Kingdom Hearts 3D Ultimania" was released in Japan today. The book features an interview where Nomura mentions that he's been making "a variety of movements" for the next game in the series, and he hopes to announce the game soon.

Nomura has dropped hints that Kingdom Hearts 3D is pseudo-prequel to the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3. It's unclear whether or not that's the new game he's referring to here.

It's also unclear as to whether the "movements" he's referred to mean that the next Kingdom Hearts, whatever it is, has gone into development or if he's simply getting approval from publisher Square Enix. The word "soon" could mean a lot of different things depending on how far along the game is.

It seems like Nomura wants to set the stage for a Kingdom Hearts III reveal. Of course, it's also completely possible that he pulls a bait-and-switch and releases another side story. I don't want to get anybody's hopes up, but with E3 right around the corner you never know what might happen.
