After spending years as Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers is moving up in the world now that she has been formally named the new Captain Marvel in this July's Captain Marvel #1. Put out by writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artist Dexter Soy, Danvers will be the seventh different character bestowed with the Captain Marvel mantle, but she will be the first to have been such a successful solo character before her re-branding.
