In honor of the late Robert Moog.

Google's latest doodle is music to your ears. The search giant is paying homage to the late Dr. Robert Moog, inventor of the Moog Synthesizer, with a digital facsimile of his famous creation.

Over at Google.com, the doodle not only lets you play music with a fully functional keyboard, you can also make adjustments to the audio by tweaking the mixer, oscillators, filters and envelope. And if that weren't enough, Google will actually let you record your creation (about 30 seconds of it, anyway) and then share it to Google+.

Moog died in 2005, but today would have been his 78th birthday. His analog synthesizer revolutionized popular music beginning in the 1960s, and became a staple of songs by Kraftwerk, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and countless others. Read more about Moog and the Google doodle here.
