Universal Pictures, the studio behind the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, announced a call for artists to submit work inspired by the film. The artwork submitted for the exhibition can be in any medium, and the winner will have his or her piece displayed in a pop-up gallery alongside the work of a prominent LA artist, as well as pieces by three-time Oscar-winner Colleen Atwood (costume designer on the film). Entrants must be 18 years of age, and the work submitted must not include any recognizable likenesses of the film’s stars.

Those likenesses include Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, and Charlize Theron as Ravenna, the evil queen. In this complete reinvention of the classic fairy tale, Snow White, rather than just keep house for seven dwarves, uses her time hiding out in the forest to become a bad-ass warrior. She is trained by the Huntsman who was meant to kill her, and along with the aforementioned dwarves and a handsome-prince-type guy (played by Sam Claflin), they seek revenge against Ravenna. It made the top 5 on Complex's Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2012 list, and you know we're not messing around.

Submissions are open through May 11, 2012, and the selected artists (up to 10) will be announced on May 14. Snow White and the Huntsman opens on June 1st.

To submit, email a .jpeg image of your work, along with contact information and a short description of the work, to SWATH.ART@nbcuni.com before the deadline. To watch the trailer for the film, go to www.snowwhiteandthehuntsman.com.
