A prototype of the original iPad surfaced on Ebay over the past week and yesterday, the auction ended with the device going for $10,200.00. Unlike the general release model, the device runs Apple’s test OS “SwitchBoard” so it isn’t exactly usable. It also has two dock connectors—according to the item description, “Apple prototyped these iPads to have [the second connector] late in the process and at the last minute decided to remove them.” It seems to be a legitimate claim, given old patent drawings.
Someone apparently spent big on a collector’s item…or Apple reclaimed some lost property.
