Now that Avengers has premiered and made its money, comic book fans everywhere can focus on the next big-budget superhero adaptation: The Dark Knight Rises. And last night, the first shots were fired from the film's massive upcoming marketing campaign in the form of two new TV spots airing during American Idol and Modern Family.
The first spot clues us in a bit more on the story of the film, and reinforces the fact that at one point in the movie (presumably the beginning) Batman has been out of action for a while. Bruce Wayne looks noticeably older and more hobbled throughout most of the footage, which is reminiscent of the first act of Frank Miller'sThe Dark Knight Returns. The second one gives us a glimpse at Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, with a few humorous bits thrown in at the end.
Both spots show off a more detailed look at Bane, who is absolutely menacing here. We wish there was more footage focused on him and his bizarre voice, but those spots will probably be revealed closer to the movie's release.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20.
