A mother can forgive a lot of things, but this seems like a bit of a stretch to us: A woman in North Carolina has reportedly forgiven her teenage son for attempting to hire someone to kill her. Not only that, but she's forgiven the so-called "hitman" as well, as he's a teenage friend of her son.
The teenager, 15-year-old Caleb Mellon, is facing up to three years in prison for reportedly hiring his 16-year-old friend, Miguel Lopez, to kill his mother, Lindsay Wood. He offered to pay Lopez with marijuana, money, or a combination of both.
Following Mellon's request, Lopez attacked Wood as she and Mellon were heading home from church. He slashed Wood's throat, but lingered at the scene for an hour afterwards while he attempted to figure out how to kill her - during this time, Wood reportedly read passages from the Bible aloud to him while he held a knife to her neck.
"From my understanding, she’s forgiven both Caleb and Miguel (Lopez)," Cleveland County District Attorney Rick Shaffer said in court. "She wants to see them rehabilitated. Her capacity to forgive is remarkable."
Can you imagine how family dinners are gonna be after this?
