Back in January we reported on a glitch in the 3DS title Mario Kart 7 that allowed played who drove off the track at a certain point on a certain level to skip a good chunk of the race.

Nintendo said at the time that they had no plans to patch the glitch out of the game. "Doing so would create an unfair advantage for the users of the original release of the game," said Nintendo representative Buddy Roemer.

But it appears they changed their stance at some point, because the bug has now been removed. If you don't want to download the patch you can still play offline, but you'll have to update the game to play online.
