Facebook Wants to Help You Donate Your Organs

Zuckerberg wants you to share more than your interests.

When Facebook filed for its Initial Public Offering in February, Mark Zuckerberg, wrote in an open letter to investors that his company believes that "a more open world is a better world because people with more information can make better decisions and have a greater impact." It turns out one of those decisions is what to do with your vital organs. 

In a note posted to Facebook's newsroom blog, Zuckerberg announced a new feature that will allow users to tell the world if they are an organ donor via their Facebook Timeline. If you're not already registered with your state as an organ donor, Facebook will provide a link for you to do so. 

The Organ Donor feature can be found under the "Health & Wellness" menu in the "Life Event" settings menu. Zuckberg believes this will help allievate the dire shortage of organs in the US and around the globe:
