We've been waiting for months to hear about the next project from Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones. He has been linked to every big budget superhero movie on Hollywood's radar, and he was even briefly considered for the Hunger Games sequel, but now, according to Man Made Movies, Jones has been tapped to direct a biopic about James Bond creator Ian Fleming.
This news should come as a complete curveball for most, especially since there was recent talk of Jones getting ready to helm a Blade Runner-inspired sci-fi movie in the future. But don't worry, the eccentric life of Fleming has plenty of ripe material for an interesting movie to be made. Based on Andrew Lycett's biography, Ian Fleming: The Man Behind James Bond, the movie is being described as "a period action film" that will showcase how Fleming's real life mirrored that of 007.
A little change never hurt anyone, and this will be an opportunity for Jones to show the world that he can do more than create mind-bending sci-fi stories. And if we get a great biopic out of it, then we'll be more than pleased. The movie is still untitled and there is no star attached as of yet, but shooting is set to take place before the year is out.
