Praise the sun! When Dark Souls: Prepare to Die was officially announced earlier this year, Namco Bandai only had plans to release it on PC for the controversial Games for Windows Live service.

But it seems the Lord of Cinder is watching over us, as it's just been announced that the PC version will release on Steam, and that all the extra content in the "Prepare to Die" edition will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 as well, as the "Artorias of the Abyss" DLC pack.

That means new areas to explore, new enemies to kill, new equipment, and new NPCs, not to mention—we hope—the matchmaking system that the PC version is reportedly getting.

If you're wondering about the name, Artorias is a mystical figure in Dark Souls lore. Not much is revealed about him during the game, though an epic battle is fought at the site of his tomb, and his ring, the Covenant of Artorias, can be used to traverse the empty Abyss and reach one of the game's more difficult boss fights. Hence the name, we're guessing.

We can't wait to explore all the new content, although we'll have to wait a bit longer for the console versions. The "Prepare to Die" edition comes out on PC August 24 and on Xbox 360 and PS3 this winter, with the "Artorias of the Abyss" DLC releasing separately for $15.

Do you share our excitement? Praise the sun with us in the comments or on Twitter if you do.
