In the comics, The Avengers formed together under the idea that a group of heroes working as equals could accomplish more than a lone, selfish vigilante working on his/her own. That type of ideal might work in the pages of a comic, but apparently it doesn’t carry over onto the silver screen. In a report made by The Hollywood Reporter, Avengers star Robert Downey Jr. didn’t just make a little bit more money than his Spandex-clad co-stars, he made up to 25X what they made.

According to the site, when bonuses are all figured in, Downey is set to make about $50 million from The Avengers, and perhaps even more. In comparison, the site is also claiming that Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo will make about $2 million to $3 million on the movie. Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson will make about twice that.

Why is there so much of a difference between Downey and everybody else? Well, after Iron Man became such a big hit, his contract was renegotiated and he now gets a cut of the revenue of each movie where he plays Tony Stark, as opposed to just a flat fee with small bonuses. What do you think? Is Downey worth this much money, or is there another cast member that you think should be earning even more? Sound off in the comment section below.
