A marketing masterstroke, film classic Casablanca will stream tonight at 7 p.m. EST on its Facebook brand page, in celebration of the recent Blu-Ray release of the movie’s 70th Anniversary edition. The stream will only be available for one screening per Facebook user.
Originally pushed through Hollywood’s studio system as a B-level afterthought in November 1942, the Oscar-winning film, starring golden-era legends Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, now ranks third on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 best American movies. The Facebook integration will shed a light on the film’s humble origins, in promoting the Warner Bros. e-book initiative, “Inside The Script,” a collection of rare materials from the film including the actual shooting script.
