"Beyond Good and Evil 2" is Still Coming, Just Not This Gen

Rejoice, and be sad.

None

Ubisoft's Michael Ancel has confirmed in a foreign-language interview that Beyond Good and Evil 2, the sequel to the cult sci-fi hit that was re-released in HD last year, is indeed still in the works.

A neogaf user translated the interview, in which Ancel says, "We won't make promises that we can't keep. We are in an active creation stage and at this moment we are only focusing on the game and making it the best game that we can. That decision would just distracts us from that objective. I can say that it's a very ambitious game and we need some tech to achieve that ambition."

"We don't say 2013 because we don't know when it will come. We're working to create a great game and it needs more tech," he continues.

The sequel has been promised for this gen in the past, though a switch to next-gen consoles would explain Ubisoft's recent silence about it.

Of course, he could technically be talking about the Wii U. What do you think? Would you rather have Beyond Good and Evil 2 next year on the Wii U or in three years on Microsoft and Sony's next consoles? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
