Battlestar Galactica Online has reached almost 10 million players in its first year, according to a press release sent out today, and to celebrate, Bigpoint is giving players who log in over the next five days free in-game items and bonuses. When was the last time you went to a birthday party where you get the presents? Rad.

The press release contained some other statistics, noting that in the game's first year, 11.5 billion loot items have been dropped, and weekly, 55,000 players participate in PvP tourneys and one million player ships are destroyed (with an almost even split between human and Cylon losses).

At first we couldn't decide which side to bat for, but then we remembered which side Tricia Helfer's on. It's hard to argue with those legs.

Are you a BSGO player? How do you feel the game's progressed over its first year? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
