After The Avengers brought in a metric ton of cash in the U.S. alone over the weekend, Disney CEO Bob Iger officially announced that a sequel is now in development, according to Deadline. Iger said the success of Avengers "is a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much.” The site is also reporting that Avengers merchandise is in high demand as well.
There are countless directions that a sequel could go in, especially after the mid-credits bonus scene featured a certain Mad Titan that is obsessed with wooing Death. But with no release date planned as of yet, it could be a while before we know who Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be trading blows with in Avengers 2.
