The trailer for Oliver Stone's highly anticipated new film, Savages has just been released, and it's safe to say we're rather pleased. Though we expected the movie to be good - it is Oliver Stone, after all - this new trailer exceeds expectations. Even Blake Lively, who until this point has been nice to look at but not much of a presence by her acting alone, impresses. Who would've thought we'd ever be blown away by Serena van der Woodsen's acting chops?

In the trailer, we're presented with a seemingly ethereal Lively strolling across a beach, her voiceover playing in the background. "Just 'cause I'm telling you this story," she says, "doesn't mean I'm alive at the end of it." Ominous! Anyway, then we're shown the basic plot of the movie: Girl is dating two marijuana dealers, girl gets kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel so her boyfriends will pay a large ransom, boys come up with a super risky plan to save girlfriend. It's a classic tale for the ages, really.

The film boasts a rather impressive cast: In addition to Lively, it also stars Emile Hirsch, Taylor KitschAaron Johnson, Benicio Del Toro, Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek, and John Travolta. It's set to premiere in theaters on July 6th.
