Director: Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza

There's an adrenaline-pumping immediacy to the film's frantic third act, due to its unwavering first-person POV. Although, [REC] is guilty of the “found footage” technique's biggest flaw: why the hell would anyone keep taping? In this case, however, we'll let the cameraman's idiocy slide. If actress Manuela Velasco (think an around-the-way version of Shakira) was commanding us to keep the camera rolling, we'd gladly obey, too. Ditto for Jennifer Carpenter in the strong 2008 American remake, Quarantine.
