Syndicate developer Starbreeze has announced that they are preparing to acquire Payday: The Heist developer Overkill Software.
If the deal is approved by Starbreeze's stock holders, the studio will add the Payday IP to stable of projects. The staff of Overkill will likely become a division of Starbreeze based out of Stockholm, Sweeden. Starbreeze is currently working on two projects - P13 and Cold Mercury.
"Starbreeze has graphical emphasis, and Overkill has total focus on innovative gameplay. Together we form a unique constellation of creative forces," says Overkill creative director Ulf Andersson.
If the deal goes through, Starbreeze will formally take control of Overkill Software in mid-June.
