Pinterest’s reign as the Internet plaything-of-the-moment might already be coming to an end. The social network’s popularity exploded in late 2011 via word of mouth, and by January, its 11.7 million unique visitors made it the fastest site in history to cross the 10-million-mark. However, just in the past month, its usage began to nosedive, from 11.15 million users on April 1, to only 8.3 million today. That’s a 25% drop. The numbers could easily be attributed to the rush of new users at the start of the year just looking to check it out and later dropping out. Or it could just be a matter of people realizing what an utter waste of time it is.
