PAX East Staring Contest Ends In Tragedy (Not Really)

Just kidding! There really was a staring contest, though.

If you were at PAX East earlier this month, chances are you went home with a sample of Rohto's menthol eye drops, whether you wanted one or not. The free samples positively suffused the convention. On Sunday, a guy literally handed me an entire stack of them at once. Like a pack of Sour Patch Kids, the drops burn before they soothe, but they're basically pleasant enough.

I haven't got to try them out over a long gaming session yet, but I'm sure as hell not about to go 38 minutes without blinking like the champion of Rohto's PAX East "Stare Wars" competition, Maxwell Morin. He did get a 50-inch flat screen for his efforts, but he also had to battle through 37 rounds for over three hours total of staring.

The eye drops were handed out in "cool", "ice" and "arctic" varieties, though whether the different flavors will give you different degrees of "eyedrenaline" is beyond us.

Head to the official Stare Wars summary site for a full recap. How long can you go without blinking? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter. And please don't hold us liable when your eyes dry up and fall out.
