A candlelight vigil was held outside of the apartment of 24-year-old Michael Ikoli, who was shot and killed in the Bronx last year. In a horrible turn of events, 22-year-old Jonathan Lewis was shot to death at the vigil. The Daily News reports that friends warned Lewis about gang violence in the neighborhood, but he insisted on going. It’s awful to think that you're risking your life when going to pay respects to a friend.
Police caught the suspect, 18-year-old Darrell Patillo hiding underneath a van, and a .38-caliber handgun was found at the scene. According to Lewis’s family, Patillo fed the cops some fabrication about a Facebook beef when probed about the killing. Lews didn’t have a Facebook page.
Michael Ikoli’s killer remains at large.
