A man was slapped with a felony petty theft charge after allegedly stealing a cup of soda from a Florida McDonald's. The soda was valued at $1.

According to the Sun Sentinel, the man, 52-year-old Mark Abaire - aliases include "Red," "Clown Red," and "Clown" - visited a Naples, Florida location of the fast food restaurant and asked for a cup for water. He then proceeded to fill it with soda despite the fact that the cashier told him not to. When he was caught, he refused to leave, leading to the police being called.

Due to the fact that he had a prior record - previous theft convictions - he was charged with a felony for stealing the soda, and could now face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

You know, for stealing a soda.
