The Resident Evil 6 trailer shown at Capcom's Captivate showcase has leaked online ahead of schedule, revealing that Capcom will release the game almost two months before its initial street date. The RE6 announcement trailer declared that the game would hit stores on November 20th, 2012 - In this trailer, the date literally changes to October 2nd.

The trailer is one of three trailers from Capcom's Captivate press event leaked today: A trailer outing Lost Planet 3 has popped up online, along with a gameplay trailer for DmC.

The Resident Evil 6announcement trailer led to more questions than answers - This trailer fills in some of the blanks it created. Here are a few highlights in case you can't watch the trailer for some reason.

  • The "J'avo", RE6's new enemies, are being created by the "C-Virus", presumably an Umbrella creation.
  • The mysterious new character from the announcement, as it turns out, may be Wesker's son... Or a clone. His travelling companion is Sherry Birkin, daughter of G-Virus creator William Birkin, who returns to the game series for the first time since her initial appearance in Resident Evil 2.
  • A mysterious  woman who looks a lot like Ada Wong appears to be the game's new villain - She's chasing people down, infecting Chris Redfield's men and, as always, helping the story along without showing her hand entirely.

One thing about RE6 clearly hasn't changed since the last trailer - it still looks awesome. October 2nd can't get here soon enough.
