Getting paid to go out and party with the hottest celebs every night seems like a pretty sweet gig, right? Well, not exactly. At least not for former celebrity gossip columnist, Chris Gardner. An aspiring writer from middle America,  Gardner moved to L.A. shortly after graduating from college. He signed on to be a gossip columnist for The Hollywood Reporter and his job was to immerse himself in the city's lifestyle, which meant infiltrating celebrity social circles to get exclusive stories.

“I still can’t believe it. I met Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor and wrote a story about them,” Gardener recounted on ABC’s 20/20. From the outside looking in, it appeared as if Gardner’s was living a life most could only dream of: his career was taking off and he was surrounded by the biggest stars in Hollywood. Gardner eventually landed a high-profile job at People magazine, where he became friends with the likes of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan. Later in the interview, Gardner claims that often times he would pick up drugs for his celebrity friends and and even namedrops Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell as famous celebs with whom he did drugs.
