Did NBC Edit George Zimmerman's 911 Call to Make Him Sound Prejudiced?

Foul.

None

According to Erik Wemple of the Washington Post, NBC is launching an internal investigation to determine whether or not the Today Show aired an inappropriately edited version of George Zimmerman's 911 call.

The network allegedly aired audio that was doctored to make it seem like Zimmerman was following Trayvon Martin because he was black:

None

However, Business Insider reports that the unedited transcript of the call reads as follows:

None

This unedited version indicates that Zimmerman only mentioned Martin's race because he was asked about it by the dispatcher. If NBC chopped up the call to paint Zimmerman as a bigot, that's irresponsible. And unnecessary.
